1. Who we are and who may use Zoe
Zoe Daily LLC is an Ohio limited liability company. For this launch, Zoe is offered only to individuals 18 or older who are located in the United States. Minors may not use Zoe, even with a parent’s or guardian’s permission. If we learn that someone under 18 has used Zoe, we will stop access and delete or otherwise handle the information as applicable law requires, subject to records we are required or permitted to retain. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact privacy@zoe.live.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us. We may collect your phone number, name, email address, eligibility response, messages, preferences, feedback, support requests, privacy requests, and any church affiliation you choose to provide. Messages may reveal sensitive matters, including religious beliefs, prayer requests, family circumstances, or health concerns. Share only what you are comfortable sending through a messaging service.
Information created through use. We may create or receive Zoe responses, message and delivery records, onboarding answers, schedules, reading plans, memory or context records used for follow-up, invitation or referral activity if offered, consent and opt-out records, subscription status, and operational or security records.
Website, sign-up, and transaction information. We receive information you submit when you express interest in Zoe or sign up through a Zoe form or referral link. The website may also collect device, browser, IP-address, cookie, and analytics information, depending on the technologies used on the page. Our payment provider processes payment credentials; we receive the identifiers, subscription status, billing events, and limited transaction information needed to administer the subscription. We do not need your full payment-card number to provide Zoe.
Information from others. A referral link may tell us that you arrived through an invitation. If a church offers Zoe and you choose to connect your account to it, we may receive information needed to make that connection. We may also receive information you submit through a Zoe campaign or sign-up channel.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- deliver and respond to messages, readings, reminders, and follow-ups you request or authorize;
- remember relevant context and personalize your experience;
- set up and administer access, subscriptions, payments, consent, and cancellation;
- answer support requests, investigate bugs or delivery failures, maintain quality and reliability, and prevent abuse;
- address safety and security concerns as described below;
- measure use of Zoe and prepare appropriately aggregated reporting where offered;
- comply with law, protect rights, and enforce our Terms of Service; and
- communicate with you about Zoe, with any separate permission required for optional marketing.
Section 5 explains how we use conversations to provide and maintain Zoe, how human review works, and our restriction on model training.
4. How AI and messaging providers handle information
When you message Zoe, a messaging provider transmits the message to us. Zoe may store it and assemble relevant current and past context to generate a response. Contracted AI providers may process that context to produce the response. Messaging, hosting, and other service providers support these steps. These providers may receive information needed to perform their services, under the arrangements we make with them. We do not authorize providers to use your private conversations to train or fine-tune their AI models.
Ordinary SMS is not necessarily end-to-end encrypted. Your carrier, device, phone backups, and anyone with access to them may expose your messages outside Zoe’s systems. A message to Zoe is not a legally privileged communication with clergy, a therapist, or an attorney.
5. Operating Zoe human review and model training
Your own Zoe experience. We use messages and relevant prior context to respond, remember what you ask us to remember, and follow up. This is part of providing Zoe.
Operating and troubleshooting Zoe. We may use relevant conversation content to investigate a support issue, diagnose errors or delivery failures, and test and implement fixes to Zoe. These activities help us maintain the service and may result in software fixes that benefit other users. They do not involve using private conversations to train or fine-tune AI models.
Human review. Authorized Zoe personnel may review relevant conversation content when needed for support, safety, security, troubleshooting, or testing a fix. For routine troubleshooting review, our intended practice is to remove direct account identifiers and limit the identifying details shown to reviewers. A message itself may still contain details that could identify a person; removing a name or phone number does not make every excerpt anonymous. An account-specific support request or safety, security, or legal issue may require restricted access to identifying information and relevant messages. Church leaders do not receive your private one-to-one messages merely because you are affiliated with their church.
Model training. We do not use your private conversations, including excerpts or summaries of them, to train or fine-tune AI models. We do not authorize our service providers to use them for that purpose either.
We may use aggregated or de-identified operational information to measure use, diagnose problems, and maintain Zoe when we take reasonable steps to prevent it from being linked back to a person. Removing direct identifiers alone may not be enough to make free-text content de-identified. This does not change our restriction on using private conversations for model training or fine-tuning.
6. Churches groups and private conversations
If you choose to connect Zoe with a church or group, we may associate your account with it. Where church features are offered, a church may receive information needed to administer participation and appropriately aggregated information about use. Being linked to a church does not by itself give its leaders access to your one-to-one transcript or personal confessions. We will explain any choice to share identifiable conversation content with a church separately. Legal or urgent safety disclosures may occur as described in Section 7.
7. When we disclose information
We disclose information to providers that help deliver Zoe, including messaging, AI response generation, hosting, analytics, support, and payment processing, as needed for those services. We may also disclose information when required by law or valid legal process; when reasonably necessary to protect people, rights, or service security; or in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale, subject to applicable law and commitments made to you. We do not sell your phone number or message content to advertisers.
We do not provide your phone number, text content, or text-message opt-in and consent records to third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Service providers that deliver Zoe messages or maintain consent records may process that information on our behalf.
If you choose to share a verse, reflection, or invitation, the content and link you send go to the recipient you choose through your device or messaging service. Once shared, recipients and their services may copy or disclose it outside Zoe’s control.
8. Safety related processing
Zoe may use a message suggesting crisis or imminent harm to provide safety information or, where legally permitted and reasonably necessary, take a limited protective action. Zoe is not continuously monitored and cannot guarantee that it will recognize or respond to an emergency. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. In the United States, call or text 988 for immediate mental-health or suicide-crisis support.
9. Text preferences and cancellation
We maintain records of your message consent and preferences. Frequency varies with your settings and use; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP or CANCEL to a Zoe message to end Zoe program texts. We may send one nonpromotional confirmation and messages otherwise allowed or required by law. Reply HELP or email support@zoe.live for assistance. A new valid opt-in is required to resume texts.
Under our Terms of Service, a request to stop all Zoe texts also ends auto-renewal for a paid individual subscription associated with that number. It does not erase your account or records; request deletion separately under Section 11. Opting back in to texts does not restart billing.
10. Your privacy choices
Contact privacy@zoe.live to request access to, correction, export, or deletion of your information. We may verify control of the relevant number or account before acting. We will honor applicable rights and explain any legal, safety, security, or technical limits. If memory or retention controls are offered within Zoe, their effect will be explained where they appear.
You can opt out of promotional email using the instructions in the email, and stop promotional texts as described in Section 9. Residents of some U.S. states may have additional rights under applicable law. We will explain and honor those rights, including any required appeal or opt-out process, when they apply.
11. Retention and deletion
We keep different categories of information for different periods based on what is reasonably needed to provide Zoe, maintain chosen memory and message history, document consent and payment, protect security, resolve disputes, and comply with law. When you request deletion of your Zoe history, we will remove conversation history and associated memory from active Zoe systems, subject to limited exceptions. We may retain records needed for billing and accounting, consent or cancellation, security, disputes, or legal compliance. Backups may be overwritten on a separate cycle, so deletion from them can take longer. We delete or de-identify other information when it is no longer needed under our retention process. A deletion request therefore does not guarantee that every copy disappears immediately.
12. Security
We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information, including access controls and safeguards appropriate to the services we operate. No internet or text-messaging service can guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account or phone number has been misused, contact privacy@zoe.live.
13. US launch and processing locations
Zoe is offered to adults located in the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate. We are not currently offering subscriptions to people outside the United States.
14. Changes to this policy
We will post an updated policy with its effective date and give additional notice when appropriate or required. If we want to use information collected under an earlier promise in a materially different way, we will give clear notice and obtain consent where required. A policy edit alone does not authorize a retroactive new use. You may request a prior version from privacy@zoe.live.
15. Other sites and services
Links and sharing tools may take you to services we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. This policy does not cover information you independently give those services.
